A Pleasant Fall Surprise

Happy Fall! The pumpkin craze is back in full swing. In this blog, Saúl highlights Starbuck's new fall themed Cortado.

On August 26th, Starbucks brought back the Pumpkin Spice Latte, making this the unofficial start of the Fall season. And while the pumpkin craze can sometimes feel inescapable (just try shopping without bumping into something that is not pumpkin flavored… impossible), it’s become a way to mark the end of the summer. But along with the PSL, Starbucks added a new drink that caught my attention, the Pecan Oat Milk Cortado.

If you know anything about me, it is that I love cortados. I must admit, I was not a huge fan of the Starbucks Cortado that was recently added to their menu (read more about my thoughts here). At times, the cortado felt underwhelming, inconsistent, an afterthought of sorts. But when I tried the Pecan Oat Milk Cortado, I thought, “wow, this is pretty good”. The pecan blended well with the Blonde Espresso Roast and the oat milk provided a smooth finish to the drink. This drink had the bite of a cortado, with a more balanced drinking experience. If you are still on the fence about cortados, this could be a good way to start.

Before this, I thought I was a cortado purist. I preferred a burnt cortado over an experimental one. But when you’re at Target trying to find a charging cable, you become a bit less of a purist and order something different. You know, why not? And to my surprise, I found myself with a little cup full of that Fall wonder that tastes like a scoop of melted butter pecan ice cream.
