It can be a bit difficult to go out of your way to try a new spot for coffee. Whether it's habit, convenience, or coffee quality we tend to stick to our favorite places. While it can be easy to stay loyal to our routine, here at Cafecito414 our love for coffee is all about exploring new places and flavors. “New(ish) spots” (we’ll call it that for now) will serve as a space for you to come along with us as we visit new coffee shops that are “newish” to us. Sometimes it can be hard for us to keep up with every coffee shop Milwaukee offers and what is now known, is still new to us. So, it’s our hope that through this series we are able to capture the magic of visiting a coffee shop for the first time and share that with you. In this first post, Saúl talks about a hidden gem in the heart of Milwaukee.
Enjoy!
The Milwaukee Art Museum is embedded into Milwaukee’s skyline. It is impossible to separate the winged structure, designed by Santiago Calatrava, from the city’s DNA. You cannot imagine MKE without the MAM and vice versa. Scientists would call this symbiosis (I think). The MAM is an integral part of Milwaukee. But for folks that live in MKE, it can be hard to make time to visit. But what if we told you that there is a hidden secret located under all of the art.

The Museum Café offers a variety of pastries and coffee options to supplement all of the art housed in the galleries. With a gorgeous view overlooking the lakefront, you’ll start thinking your part of a painting. But in all honesty, it is a subtly understated space with plenty of natural light. And its coffee is no slouch. I ordered the Iced Latte, and it hit the spot! And honestly, after a morning spent looking at the great pieces, a coffee is really all you need to keep your day going!
